It was great seeing you all at our joint NACE/ISES meeting last week at the Ritz Carlton Denver. For those of you who were unable to attend, General Manager Andrew Rogers spoke about "legendary Ritz-Carlton service" and how it can be applied to any job, any position among the catering and event professional industries.

We will be taking the month of March off, and our next meeting will be held at the Hilton Garden Inn - Denver Tech Center on Tuesday, April 13^th, from 5pm - 8pm. Dr. Cynthia Vannucci, Director of Events Management at Metropolitan State College of Denver, will be our guest speaker.

As a Denver native, I take pleasure in everything that life has to offer. As President of 5 Star Talent, wife to Al, mom to Nikki (18) and Danny (10), eleven grandchildren and the oldest of eight, my days are filled with creating exciting non-stop events and activities.  I enjoy all aspects of family life. My family and I travel all over, mostly to Disney World every summer where we stand in long lines, pay lots of money and I have "really bad" hair days!!  Ever wonder why I say "Have a Magical Day"?

I lived in California for several years and worked in the Human Resources Department for Harvey's and Harrah's Casino's in Lake Tahoe. Returning to Denver, I spent fifteen years in the hospitality industry as a Human Resources Director opening the Sheraton Denver West and worked at the Sheraton Denver Airport for ITT Sheraton Corporation. On January 29, 2010, I was honored when awarded the Small Business "Person of the Year" for the Metro North Chamber of Commerce. In February, I was selected as one of the three finalists for the Denver Hispanic Chamber of Commerce "Business Woman of the Year" Award. This April, please be sure to check out the Denver Mask Project masks on display at the Cherry Creek Mall supporting the Denver Hospice, including a mask from 5 Star Talent and Entertainment. 

It's an exciting time for me to be celebrating my fifteen years in the entertainment business. I feel truly blessed to have my wonderful family, many true friends, loyal clients and magnificent entertainers. I enjoy being involved with the many areas of the entertainment industry (especially since I do not sing, dance or paint faces)!!  I will continue my journey to take 5 Star to "an exciting new level" this year.

Five years ago I decided to make the cross-country move from Illinois to Colorado and have not looked back since. I grew up in Springfield, Illinois and completed a double major in Commercial Recreation and Program Management at Illinois State University.   Upon completing school I headed south to complete an internship at Amelia Island Plantation Resort in Florida. Additionally in Florida, I spent some time working for Disney Cruise Line. Both the internship and my time with Disney provided the most intense and fundamental hospitality training available. The Disney Traditions Program taught me so much about customer service and the hospitality industry overall. Throughout my career I have been a Catering Manger, Convention Services Manager, and Sales Manager at various hotels. Currently I hold the title of Director of Catering and Convention Services at the Millennium Harvest House Hotel. Boulder is a great community to work and play in; I enjoy the outdoors and couldn't ask for a better place to live! I look forward to continued growth not only within my careers, but also personally, and feel NACE is the place for this.
