June 2009

President's Report

June is officially here and everything's a buzzing - the birds, the bees, and the events!!! Our busy summer is just kicking off and Denver NACE is also busy as a bee planning the final touches for our Annual Fundraiser “Pop-Culture Cuisine”. We are incredibly fortunate to welcome Catersource’s Michael Roman and Pauline Hoogmoed to the event on June 9th. Also joining in the festivities and traveling from Baltimore, Bonnie Fedchock, Executive Director and Kim Grimm, Chapter Relations both from the NACE National office.

Your Board never stops working for you to make this the best and strongest chapter in the country!!! Please let us know what you want from Denver NACE - what program topics are you interested in? What membership benefits do you think should be offered that aren't currently? Who would you like to see speak at one of our monthly programs? What more can we do to help you???

I look forward to seeing everyone at Catering By Design on June 9th!!!

Sincerely,
Monica Cheeks, CMP

What you have missed!

May 2009 Farm to Fork Event

Written by Sophia Sandlin, The Arrangers

What do NACE and ISES have in common? Besides being the best providers of food and special events, together they can and have created a successful eco-friendly Farmer’s Market event of the year! The Denver chapter members and guests stepped into the DSC facility, which was transformed into a rustic marketplace with burlap draperies, wagons, picket fencing and all the décor to provide the outdoor feel. Colorado Party Rentals, Chair Covers and Linens, T’DA Design and Production, Swank Audio Visuals and Bella Fiori assisted in the transformation. The concept of Farm to Fork provided guests with the freshest locally grown food and refreshments.  From Haystack Mountain Goat Cheese to a living salad bar and a sweet corn cart, taste buds were fully tantalized. Gourmet Fine Catering, The Food Guy, Three Tomatoes, Bella Pasta, and Old Colorado Smokehouse partnered on catering. To cure the sweet tooth Kelley Cakes offered enticing cupcakes. Bamboo Studio provided authentic bamboo serving ware, while Whole Foods supplied eco-friendly bags filled with goodies and vendor information. What would a NACE event be without the refreshments and entertainment? To keep with the same local feel, D’Vine Wine, Oskar Blues Brewery and Leopold Bros quenched the thirsts of all. Just when you needed a pick-me-up, The Funky Brewster roasted organic aromatic coffee beans and the music presented by Moments Notice flooded the guests’ eardrums. Astonishing tricks performed by Gregg Tobo kept the crowd in awe. It was an evening filled with great networking, natural local food, live entertainment and a lively crowd!  The picture perfect evening was captured by Jason Grubb in all of its storybook glory, check it out at: http://jason-g.com/naceises/
What a night to remember!
