President's Report

I am going to keep this short and sweet, as I am barely caught up on emails from the holiday weekend.

The Denver chapter acquired 34 new members during the Spring Membership Campaign. I would like to personally welcome ALL new members and am excited to get to know all of you more. In return, I hope that you all gain fantastic business leads, share innovative ideas, and cultivate lasting friendships within the chapter. I would like to recognize our membership co-directors, Monica Cheeks and Terri Fisher, along with the membership committee, Brehan McDonough, Gracy Morgan, Alanayer Smith-Jensen and Lindsey Richardson, for their work during the campaign. Lastly, I would like to thank the entire board for their recruiting endeavors.

I look forward to seeing you all next week at our Third Annual Fundraiser – The Amazing NACE. We will launch an annual scholarship for a local student studying in the hospitality industry.

Cheers!

Sidney M. Stoper

A little bit about where I grew up:

In a small town in Alabama, where you know everybody. This town is in the middle of the state and someone had to visit and use Greenville as the setting for the movie "Sweet Home Alabama. And yes, Pigeon Creek really does exist.

The closest I ever came to getting in trouble in High School was:

What are you talking about? I was always in trouble.

High School Celebrity Crush:

Tom Cruise...wasn't he everybody's?

The first car I ever owned was:

A Camero

If I had one day to do whatever I wanted, I would:

Go to the spa (but I probably should spend time with my kids)

How would you explain catering to a 10 year old?

Ask my 9-year-old. He grew up at Occasions By Sandy. He knows more than some of the people I have met in this business. He will even act the part of a waiter, it's really scary.

Regarding this industry, I am most excited about:

The ability to make people happy over the littlest things.

What do you like about NACE?

I get to talk to people and not have to worry about competing against them at that particular moment. We are all friends in a way.

Hamburger or Filet Mignon?

I'm more like Fajitas

Life of the Party or Wallflower?

Neither...the party planner
